The Policy Research Initiative, together with 10 federal and non-government partners, held a 3-day conference on the future of freshwater policies in Gatineau, Quebec. The "Convening for Action in British Columbia" initiative was an element of a panel discussion on "Alternatives to Water Supply and Demand Management".

The City of Dawson Creek hosted a workshop titled "Sustainable Planning and Development for Small Communities", a program developed by Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation to help small communities.
